Salary: $85,000 – $105,000
Actual compensation within the range will be based on experience

What You’ll Do
The main purpose of the Graduate Recruitment and Development Manager role is to lead the recruitment activity for Optometry Students. The role is focused on building relationships with Canadian students attending US and Canadian Schools from first year through graduation with the goal of steering them to careers with Specsavers and continuing that relationship in their first two years of practice. The ideal candidate should have a background in optometry, effective communication skills, capable of persuading and engaging with a highly educated student base.
Key Responsibilities
Operational delivery
Attend optometry school events along with the Head of Optometry Attraction and/or OD partners
First point of contact for students interested in Student loan forgiveness / pathways program
Connect directly with students between events. Collaborate on ways to keep students engaged.’
Be a part of the onboarding process in plan B stores working with graduates and store partners to support the clinical and professional development of early-career optometrists.
Utilize your optometric knowledge to provide essential input, guaranteeing that our graduate recruitment and development initiatives align with the clinical and personal development needs of our optometrists.
Work towards future engagement with university pre-optometry / pre-professional programs. Start to increase interest in optometry as a career in cities and provinces with OD shortages
Relationship Management
Work proactively with the Partners to ensure a positive and effective working relationship is achieved to deliver a great service and excellent candidate experience
Support and coordinate summer placements for students between first and second year.
Support and coordinate 4th year externship rotations (3rd year mini rotations in the future)
Support the recruitment team with the placement as a full or part time associate in partnered and partnerless locations
Work with the Clinical Performance Consultants to ensure there is a seamless transition from recruitment to induction to ensure we provide our new starters with a great experience and give them the information and tools to perform effectively in their role.
Capability development
Keep pipelines of students, externs/externship sites and summer placements organized and up to date
Input into social media with knowledge of platform specific techniques
What We’re Looking For
Essential Skills
Experience practicing as an optometrist / background in optometry
Experience in fostering connections and building relationships with students and or Optometrists
Experience in the development and delivery of key resourcing plans
Experience in social media or familiarity with effective methods for engaging students and young doctors.
Understanding of assessment methodologies and attraction approaches
Recruitment system and process knowledge
Experience of working cross functionally
Measure and drive improvements to the effectiveness of campaigns through feedback and understanding using all available data and resources.
Desirable Skills
Direct headhunting experience, online/phone/in person
Track record in deploying a range of attraction approaches to meet business demands
