Store design - rebranding - collaboration

Do you dream of designing great looking retail stores across multiple markets? And are you a detailed multi-tasker, able to keep track of many different projects and criteria? Then go ahead and apply for this role!
Specsavers employs around 37,000 people worldwide, of which around 7,000 works in our Northern European region (covering Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Netherlands). At Specsavers Northern European Support Office in Copenhagen, we’re looking for a Store Designer to execute retail designs for our Northern European region: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Netherlands.
What you’ll do
Over the years, the Specsavers / Louis Nielsen brand has become our greatest asset. With a vision to make better eye and hearing care accessible to all, it’s within our optical stores that customers engage and place their trust in our brand. That’s why we always strive for consistent execution of our great looking stores – no matter where and when our customers come to visit us.
As a Store Designer, you’ll handle all aspects of store design and layout production. This includes everything from designing shopfronts, through to the retail, dispensing, clinical and staff areas of our stores. You’ll also be involved in supporting the ongoing development of our portfolio of +450 stores, all located in different countries with local legislations, clinical standards, regulations, and requirements within Specsavers global shop fit.
Your specific tasks will be to:
  • Own individual store design projects and follow the process of design, from receipt of design brief through to actual creation of plans, drawings, and renderings, to support Business Development teams in conversations with store partners, property, landlords, municipalities, suppliers, etc.
  • Be responsible for completion of rebrand, relocation, expansion and new store projects across our five-country region.
  • Ensure all store drawings are complete, technically accurate and put in motion in time to facilitate and support the project schedule.
  • Present inspiring alternatives to shopfronts and store design solutions for situations where the store location or physical environment requires a non-standard approach.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc concept development projects such as creation of new unitary, tactical shop fits, updates to the global shop fit, rollouts, trials, etc.
  • Ensure Specsavers design principles, customer journey, technical standards and brand guidelines are applied consistently across the portfolio.
  • Work closely with the Business Development teams to ensure consistently executed great-looking stores across our entire Northern Europe region.
Your valuable experience
We’re looking for someone with first-hand store layout and design experience, who has ideally worked in a fast-paced retail environment with an international retailer.
We realize that you are not a check list to be crossed off, however, we hope that you can recognize the following;
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design or similar relevant field with 1-2 years direct experience in designing for retail environments.
  •  Excellent multitasking ability while also paying keen attention to detail.
  • Strong spatial awareness with ability to think/visualize and communicate concepts in 3D.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across all levels and functions.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and oral English – as well as one of our Northern European languages.
  • Technical skills; Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite. Preferably with knowledge of another 3D rendering programme (Enscape, or similar).
  • Flexible with working hours as well as travelling between support offices and store visits in our five Northern European countries.
In connection to the above, we are looking forward to welcoming a new teammate, who will contribute with a creative flair, imagination, and innovative thinking. Hand in hand with creativity, goes commercial understanding and business acumen and an analytical mindset as beneficial in this role.
What you’ll get
At Specsavers we are on a journey to transform eye and hearing care – making it accessible to everyone who needs it.
As our new Store Designer, you’ll get to work with our diligent support office and store teams to make sure our customers feel at home whenever entering one of our modern, Scandinavian stores.
On top of that, you also get to enjoy the following perks:
  • Become part of an international company with friendly, smart, and passionate colleagues.
  • To join a Great Place to Work-certified workplace that is heavily invested in making everyone feeling valued, motivated, and cared for.
  • Keep on developing in your role with free access to plenty of online learning offers, monthly conversations with your manager, an individual Personal Development Plan that aligns with your talent and ambitions, and lots of responsibility!
  • Great coffee, lots of laughs, table tennis tournaments, regular birthday treats, exciting Christmas parties, virtual Friday quizzes, and much more.
