Are you passionate about providing financial advice and support in a fast-moving international business-environment? And are you confident in leading forecast strategies and driving cost control? Then you could be the new Finance Director of Specsavers’ Northern European (NE) business.

As our Finance Director, you will be responsible for the overall finance budget of our NE business. This entails both a strategic and operational responsibility for driving the financial agenda forward across all our NE markets (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and the Netherlands). You will be based in Copenhagen at our Northern Europe support office in Hvidovre or at our Dutch support office in Maarssen and be required to travel occasionally within the NE region.


Developing and managing financial accounting and performance
As our Finance Director, you will report to the Commercial Director of NE and become an important member of the NE Leadership Group and the NE Operating Board (NEOB). In this role you will lead a team of finance professionals across our 6 different support office locations and support Heads of Finance and Country Directors in their day-to-day challenges. In relation hereto, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist in Group financial accounting, audit management, and accounting policy and control
  • Oversee and review all our NE countries accounting procedures and systems
  • Contribute to the development and application of Group finance policy
  • Ensure all NE countries comply with country accounting and achieve annual and interim audits as planned
  • Monitor ongoing financial performance in relation to competitors and provide forecasts as required
  • Work with Group Finance/Risk to seek out methods to mitigate financial risk and ensure adherence to internal controls
  • Demonstrate clear financial links between strategy, tactics and day-to-day decision-making to ensure that ownership and accountability is maintained by the business

As an additional area, you will also be supporting the commercial decision-making process enabling the NE functions to make factually based decisions with respect to resource allocation and desirable investments.


An experienced leader with solid financial skills
We are looking for a person with prior leadership responsibilities and a strong financial and commercial acumen. The successful candidate should be oriented towards strict deadlines and results and be able to seek ways and opportunities to drive growth and profitability in such an environment. To match the outlined, the candidate must accommodate the following professional qualifications:

  • Previous experience from either Retail or FMCG experience, preferably in a multi-national organisation
  • Ability to capitalise on financial management opportunities
  • Fluent in spoken English
  • Master’s in business economics or similar
