Are you passionate about tax governance, risk management, and advising a complex international business?
Join Specsavers as our new Tax Manager for Northern Europe and play a key role in shaping how we manage tax across five countries.

Your role

As Tax Manager for Northern Europe, you will be the primary in-house tax specialist supporting the Finance teams across Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and the Netherlands. Your key focus will be to ensure strong tax governance, high-quality compliance, and effective management of tax risks and opportunities across the region.

Working closely with country Finance teams, the Finance Director Northern Europe, and Group Tax, you will act as both an advisor and an escalation point for tax matters, helping the business navigate changing legislation while ensuring adherence to Group Tax Policy.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing governance and oversight of tax compliance across Northern Europe.
  • Acting as the regional point of contact for tax advice, escalation, and external advisors.
  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating tax risks and opportunities.
  • Ensuring adherence to Group Tax Policy and supporting tax planning initiatives.
  • Monitoring tax legislation changes and supporting reporting and audits with Country and Group Finance teams.

What are we looking for?

“We are looking for someone with strong tax expertise who can effectively share and transfer knowledge to our finance colleagues across the region — combining a pragmatic mindset with a strong focus on compliance and tax risk management”  – Thomas Søvndahl, Finance Director

Besides that, we prefer that you have:

  • A relevant accounting or tax qualification.
  • Solid post-qualification experience working with tax matters in a complex or international environment.
  • Strong accounting knowledge and technical tax competence.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams and advising stakeholders with different needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Strong systems skills, including advanced Excel, and confidence working with data and analytics.

As a person, we hope that you are:

  • Proactive, structured, and forward-looking.
  • Comfortable working independently and navigating ambiguity.
  • Relationship-driven, with the ability to build trust across countries and functions.
  • Flexible in your approach and focused on finding practical solutions.
