We’ve recently taken our first T Levels students working in Technology at our Southampton Support Office. We’re thrilled to be working with a local college within our community in order to support students on a digital support services T level.
For students, T Levels are a compelling opportunity as they’re able to learn technical skills whilst at college and then apply those skills to real-life problems in the workplace with us every Friday and have a tangible impact on helping our Stores run as smoothly as possible.
Current T Level student, Ethan, described the experience so far:
“My first week at Specsavers has been amazing, there is a lot to take in, and it felt like we were put on calls quite quickly. However, I have loved taking calls as even if I get stuck, there is always someone to turn to to ask for help. There is a great atmosphere and I feel like I have already learnt a lot. ”
It has been great to see the Service Desk teams get involved in mentoring our T level students. It’s given team members great satisfaction knowing that they are helping to shape our future talent.
Early Careers Manager, Georgie, explains that a T Level within our Service Desk are a wonderful window into the world of technology and a valuable opportunity for students to take their first steps into a career in the industry.

Another of our current T Level students, Christian, explained “The role gives me frequent chances to build upon my social skills, rational thinking and most importantly, the ability to apply my knowledge to the real world.”
We’re delighted to have the current cohort with us for two years. We’ll also be looking to take our next academic cohort in September!
