See your career at Specsavers: Meet Kristina from stores to support office
My journey to Specsavers all started when I worked as an optical assistant for couple different optics brands. I joined Specsavers in 2005 as a Optical Assistant and over 14 years I managed to work my way up in store to Dispensing Optician and Contact Lens Optician, top team member and become ILM accredited. After almost 15 years working in-store I was given the opportunity to join the contact lens operations team as a contact lens performance specialist to cover a colleague’s maternity leave. This was a major turning point in my career and opened doors to the world of support office. Later, I moved into technology and the customer layer team, becoming Associate Product owner. After 18 years at Specsavers, I am now a Product owner for Socrates, our in-house PMS.
I have been provided with amazing support and supervision throughout my career which has enabled me to become the clinician I am today. This support allowed me to complete both a dispensing optics and contact lens qualification alongside being a single parent. I have been given full support throughout my career with Specsavers, the sky really is the limit. For me it makes me so proud that I get to successfully deliver technological solutions for our stores, that I know will make a difference to stores and customers alike. I have been there working in store, and I know what it’s like to be in their shoes.
At Specsavers, I’ve learnt to think outside the box and that sometimes the smallest ideas can make to biggest impact. Specsavers made me realised the various roles that could be I am capable of within the optics business that didn’t involve an expense of a full-time university degree. Outside of work, I’m a single parent of a son who now has followed in my footsteps and works for Specsavers too!
Also, every new year that comes around I try to set myself a challenge and learn or experience something new to make sure I can develop as a person.
