Before joining Specsavers, Hazreth worked as a locum and at a hospital, gaining valuable insights into different aspects of the field. "I was exploring different avenues and also working at a hospital, which I still do," Hazreth shared. This allowed him to explore various opportunities and get a deeper understanding of the industry. "My career actually started off with Specsavers as a pre-reg, and then from then on, I ended up exploring the industry," he explained.

The Decision to Become a Partner

His decision to become a partner at Specsavers was influenced by conversations with friends and Specsavers. "I've had a few friends that have become directors, and it's only through speaking with those guys that I decided perhaps it's a path that I can take," he mentioned. The opportunity to become a partner came naturally, as he was already at Specsavers Tewkesbury before becoming a partner.

Embracing the Partnership

Becoming a partner at Specsavers brought stability and a unique structure that Hazreth found appealing. "Partnership is truly at the heart of Specsavers, and it's such a unique structure where each director is a partner and they have the access to shape the company," he said. The support system at Specsavers played a crucial role in his decision. "The amount of support that there is, the amount of teams that they are, and you're never alone as a director," he emphasised.

Overcoming Challenges and Growing

Hazreth acknowledged that the journey to becoming a partner was not without its challenges. "Don't get me wrong, you have challenges, but that's part of it," he admitted. However, these challenges were seen as opportunities for growth. "Any challenge is an opportunity for growth, and any opportunity for growth is going to lead to success," he reflected. The support from Specsavers, including various teams and resources, helped him navigate these challenges with come out the other side a better partner and business owner.

The Pride of Being a Director

Hazreth explained he takes pride in both clinical and leadership roles. "Being a director, it's not just about being a practitioner," he explained. The ability to transform the industry and lead a team is something he values greatly. "Being part of such a resilient and dynamic organisation is such an incredible experience," he shared.

Supporting the Community and Charitable Work

Hazreth is committed to supporting the community and engaging in charitable work through his store, including supporting the air ambulance and planning to introduce more charities over the next few months and years. He enjoys the empowerment of being able to support causes close to him, his team and most importantly the community he serves. "That's the whole point of Specsavers, giving back to the community. It doesn't have to be eye-related constantly, but it's some sort of service that we give back," he added

Advice for Aspiring Partners

For those considering partnership with Specsavers, Hazreth offers encouraging words. "Just do it. It's a challenge, you're going to be hesitant at first, but a challenge is good for you," he advised. "To experience owning a business, it's just something remarkable," he concluded.

From a Specsavers pre- reg to leading a store, his story is one of growth, resilience, and care.
