Our Community
Creating a positive future
We believe in possibility
We believe healthcare is a basic human right, not a privilege. That’s why we work tirelessly to change lives through better sight and hearing by making quality, affordable eye and hearing care available to everyone.
To support those in our community who may face barriers to access, we’re proud to support local, national and international organisations and charities. We work with industry partners to improve prevention and early detection of vision and hearing loss and we’re proud to use our scale, resources and expertise to support our local communities.
Doing this helps our people feel connected to the communities in which we operated and gives them the opportunity to personally make a difference - whether that be through matched fundraising or volunteering opportunities.
Supporting the Fred Hollows Foundation
Our long-term partnership with The Fred Hollows Foundation in New Zealand is helping to restore sight and provide much needed eye care to so many people across the Pacific, giving them a chance for a brighter future. We also support Fred Hollows through equipment donation, volunteering, optometrist outreaches, limited-edition frames and more.
In New Zealand, our fundraising contributes to advancing eye health outcomes in neighboring Fiji and strengthening the eye health workforce across the Pacific. Alongside The Fred Hollows Foundation, Specsavers also supports more than 100 local charities and not-for-profits through our stores.
Patient Support bodies
As the largest provider of eye care across Aotearoa New Zealand, we take great responsibility in supporting the eye health industry and we are committed to working in partnership with patient support bodies to ensure all people living with eye health conditions and vision loss are supported and cared for. We work closely with range of support bodies including:
- Glaucoma New Zealand
- Blind Low Vision New Zealand
- Macular Disease Foundation New Zealand.
