“It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey” - Mandeep's path to partnership

Mandeep Sandhu decided to apply for partnership with Specsavers just three months after he joined as an optician. Now, he’s a business owner and retail partner at Specsavers Centre on Barton in Hamilton, Ontario.

“I've been passionate about healthcare since I was young, always wanting to help others and make a difference in their lives. When I started wearing glasses in my early teens, it gave me a personal connection to eye health and sparked my interest in the field. As I learned more about how eyecare can significantly improve someone's quality of life, my enthusiasm grew even stronger.

“I worked as an optician and managing optician at independent clinics for nearly a decade, gaining invaluable experience and deep insight into the industry. This hands-on experience ignited my entrepreneurial drive, inspiring me to combine my passion for healthcare with the opportunity to build a business. I saw eyecare as the perfect field to not only make a meaningful impact on individuals' vision but also to create somewhere that could truly serve and benefit the community.

“When I first joined Specsavers as an optician, I was delighted to discover that my values aligned perfectly with their mission. I firmly believe that eyecare should be affordable for all. Everyone deserves access to the gift of sight!“

As I learned more about them, I was impressed by the extensive support provided to their partners. Specsavers offers comprehensive training, robust marketing, advanced technology, IT support, partner development, among other valuable resources. This partnership model was a major factor in my decision to apply to become a partner within just three months of joining the company.

“In addition, the start-up cost contribution positively influenced my decision to join as a partner. It alleviated the financial burden typically associated with starting a business, making it more feasible for me to take this important step.

“Having access to the network of partners when you have specific questions has also been invaluable. This network provides a wealth of knowledge and expertise that we can tap into whenever we encounter challenges or need advice. It ensures that we are never alone in finding solutions, and it fosters a collaborative environment where we can share insights and best practices.

“So far, it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey. Many people have shared how glad they are that we opened a store here, and their feedback has been incredibly encouraging. As we continue to learn and grow, we’re excited about the future and look forward to building even stronger, lasting relationships with those in our community.”
