The Role & Team

Following an internal promotion within our Specsavers Technology Team, we’re excited to offer a full-time opportunity for a Systems Engineer.

This role ensures that desktop systems, clinical testing software, optical equipment, and connected peripherals operate seamlessly to deliver exceptional patient care.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Design Lead, the Engineer will work within a Product Team to deliver global and local initiatives, ensuring effective coordination between the Clinical team and IT departments. They will serve as the escalation point for technical support for Specsavers optical systems and oversee the provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of operational environments. Responsibilities include systems testing, documentation, user training, and transition to support.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning through regular upskilling, certifications and staying current with evolving technologies and industry advancements (essential)
  • Must have minimum 3+ years’ experience in desktop systems engineering or IT support, ideally within retail or healthcare environments.
  • Strong technical expertise in Windows server and desktop environments, drivers, hypervisors and peripheral integration (essential)
  • Availability to work full time, onsite at our Port Melbourne Support Office (essential)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across clinical, technical and vendor teams to deliver integrated support and system improvements in a healthcare or clinical setting
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and security best practices
  • Skilled in incident management, problem analysis, and resolution involving third-party vendor software and clinical applications
  • Hands-on experience with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom applications, including packaging technologies for automated deployment using tools such as Intune or SCCM
  • Skilled in creating user guides and technical documentation, with experience delivering onboarding and training for clinical staff on new systems and equipment
