Tell us a bit about yourself and your background before joining Specsavers
I graduated with a degree in optometry from India. I worked as a managing optician in an independently owned optometry clinic, where I gained valuable experience in the field and honed my skills in optometry and customer service.

I joined Specsavers in June 2023 as a Senior Lab Technician and was promoted to my current role as Lens Portfolio Manager in May 2024.

How have you found life at Specsavers so far?
My journey at Specsavers has been incredibly rewarding. In my first role I learned the intricacies of lens production and quality control. With the support and encouragement of my management team, I was able to transition to the role of Lens Portfolio Manager in less than a year. This rapid progression has been both challenging and fulfilling, and it has given me the opportunity to expand my expertise and take on new responsibilities.

I love working here because of the supportive and nurturing environment. The company’s focus on employee well-being and development makes it a great place to grow your career. Additionally, the sense of community and the opportunity to work with passionate professionals is incredibly motivating.

How did Specsavers help and support your development?
The management team has provided continuous support through training programs, mentorship, and opportunities for growth. Their belief in my potential and their willingness to invest in my development has been crucial to my career advancement.

What gives you pride in your role?
I love that I have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the business while interacting with new people every day. I enjoy the dynamic nature of my job, where I can leverage my technical skills and passion for optometry to make a positive impact on our customers and the company.

What have you learned during your time at Specsavers?
I’ve learned that with determination and the right support from management, you can achieve your career aspirations. The company’s commitment to employee growth and development has taught me the value of a supportive work environment.

What would you say to encourage someone thinking about applying?
This is a growing business with ample opportunities for professional development. Specsavers takes great care of its employees, offering competitive wages and a healthy work-life balance. It’s a place where you can truly feel like part of a family.

What one word would you use to describe the Specsavers culture?
Family.

Finally, what do you like doing outside of work?
I enjoy hiking, working out and gaming to help me unwind and keep a balanced lifestyle.
