As a result of internal development and promotion in our Retail Recruitment team, we’re now searching for a motivated and organized Recruitment Consultant, who’s eager to learn and grow as part of Specsavers.  

 

Your role 

You’ll be part of a team responsible for all retail recruitment activities for our 142 stores. This includes retail and clinical positions as well as Store Partners. As a Recruitment Consultant, you’ll take the lead in recruiting and engaging Retail staff and students, helping to build strong, capable teams across our stores. You’ll also support the Recruitment Manager and Senior Recruiters in the smooth operation of the recruitment department. 

  

Your primary tasks and responsibilities include, but not be limited to:   

Hands-On Professional Recruitment   

  • Recruitment of Retail staff and students from A-Z including conduct screening calls and interviews with candidates. 

  • Building a pipeline through tools and channels such as Avature, LinkedIn and engaging via sourcing, events, student engagement, your network and other activities. 

  • Collaborate closely with internal key stakeholders such as Regional Relationship Managers (RRMs) and Store Partners to understand hiring needs to build and retain a pipeline of qualified candidates. 

  • Handle back-office and administrative tasks to keep processes running efficiently. 

  • Work with the Employer Brand guidelines and the Northern European team to develop communication and materials. 

  • Follow our internal recruitment process, keeping stakeholders informed and engaged. 

  • Support the Recruitment Manager and Senior Recruiters in the smooth operation of the recruitment department. 

 

Cross Functional Working 

  • Work closely with the other Professional Recruitment Consultants in countries to share ideas, to support each other when developing new initiatives and to share candidates. 

  • Collaborate with the Northern European Recruitment team on new initiatives, to share ideas and to steal with pride. 

  • Plan and participate in relevant events to get closer to our candidates (Recruitment and Career events, Comms Meetings and Specsavers Clinical Conference). 

 

In the role, you’ll report directly to the Senior Recruitment Manager, Robin de Jager, and work closely with the two other Recruiters on the team. Occasional travel is to be expected in the role.

As the Recruitment Consultant you’ll become an integral part of the dynamic and experienced Recruitment team, and you’ll collaborate closely with talented colleagues and stakeholders both in country and in region. Our team operates both on-site at Dutch support office based in Maarssen and embraces hybrid work, offering flexibility.

Your qualifications 

We’re looking for someone who brings curiosity, collaboration, and a drive to make things happen. We imagine you have some experience from a similar recruiter role or perhaps you are eager to start a career in recruitment with limited experience.

  • Organized and thrive in a dynamic environment where tasks and priorities shifts. 

  • Curious with a proactive approach to both communication and challenges. for instance, when finding new ways to attract talent when the normal routes are not working. 

  • A strong collaborator and able to constructively ask questions and challenge peers and candidates.   

  • Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and building strong relationships. 

  • Excited to learn and grow into a more senior recruitment role over time. 

  • A great communicator and fluent in both Dutch and English.

Your development 

Within 3 months, you’ll:   

  • Be fully onboarded and have met a lot of colleagues and understand our ways of working. 

  • Gain understanding of Specsavers and the market we recruit in. 

  • Support our partner in finding the right people for their stores. 

 

Within 6-12 months, you: 

  • Run your own projects and be fully operational in the role. 

  • Understand how our business works, how to find the right candidates, and what our priorities are.  

  • Can be the go-to-person for our partners with any recruitment-related questions and requests.
