June is Pride Month at Specsavers
At Specsavers, we’re passionate about supporting our people to be the best they can be, and that starts with creating a workplace where our team members can bring their whole selves to work every day.
Each June, we join together with our colleagues around the world to celebrate Pride Month. This year, in ANZ we are celebrating by acknowledging the initiatives our business has launched and supported to ensure we are continuing to create spaces that are safe and inclusive to all.
Led by our LGBTTQIA+ network PRISM, which has grown to 50+ retail and support office team members across ANZ in the past two years, we are working as a team to provide education and connect our LGBTTQIA+ communities.
Some of the initiatives we have launched across the past two years include:
Progress Pride Pins
ANZ team members are invited to wear a Progress Pride Pin to show support, allyship, and acceptance.
Prism Panel Series
Each week in June, our team member-led PRISM Network are sharing experiences and insights into a range of important topics including Pride; Coming Out; LGBTTQIA+ families; Pronouns; Gender and Sexuality and Authenticity.
The series is designed to share experiences, educate and celebrate our LGBTTQIA+ community and help address bias and create awareness of the challenges LGBTTQIA+ still face in the workplace and in the community.
In Store Digital Display
To celebrate Pride Month in our stores, we’ve created digital display messages which will display in rotation on our store screens to signal to our customers and the public that we are a safe and inclusive space.
New Learning Module
We’ve recently launched a new learning module for stores and support office on our in-house learning management system on how we can better support our rainbow community, and covers topics such as gender inclusivity, language and allyship.
Gender Neutral Uniforms
This June we have launched gender neutral uniform options for our store team members to enable to them order and wear the uniform that best suits their identity.
Workplace giving
We’ve added another charity to our program to our workplace giving program, where support office team members can choose to support Minus18, an LGBTTQIA+ charity, which champion LGBTTQIA+ youth by leading change, building social inclusion and advocating for an Australia where all young people are safe, empowered, and surrounded by people that support them.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our PRISM network, Specsavers is proud to have implemented these key initiatives and will continue to work to ensure we are creating safe and inclusive environment for all our people and customers.
Happy Pride Month!
