Sustainability at Specsavers
We're working to do better for the planet
What sustainability means to us
We’re all about changing lives through better sight and hearing, but we can only do the great things we do if we work to look after our planet and communities, as well as our customers, patients and colleagues. So, it’s important to us that we aim to put sustainability at the heart of our organisation. And with ambitious targets and plans, we’re working on doing just that.
Our Commitment and Targets
We’re striving to be more sustainable across our entire business and supply chain, and we’ve set ourselves some ambitious targets. We’re committed to minimising our impact on the environment from our products, services and related activities to build a sustainable and resilient business. That’s why we’ve set ourselves the goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions across our operations and supply chain by 2050 at the latest and why we’ve aligned our carbon reduction strategy with science-based targets which give us a clearly defined pathway to reduce our carbon emissions.
We’re passionate about creating a business where our people and partners are proud to belong and feel empowered to make a difference, and where our customers trust us. We’re here to support our partners and suppliers, utilising our expertise and scale to help them mitigate sustainability risks and harness opportunities.
We’re also committed to being transparent, fair and ethical in how we do business, and we actively support the communities in which we operate, doing what we can to enhance access to eye and hearing care for people in our communities experiencing barriers.
Our mindset is to have a positive impact beyond profit, protecting the planet and maximise our social contribution.
We know there’s a lot to do
We’re determined to reach all of our targets. Every Specsavers role has sustainability at the forefront, and every one of our 45,000+ colleagues can make a positive difference. So we can keep doing what we do best, for as long as possible.
