Help shape how our colleagues across Northern Europe stay informed, inspired and connected

Are you an experienced communication leader who thrives on turning business priorities into clear, inspiring and impactful communication? As our new Head of Internal Communication, Northern Europe, you'll play a pivotal role in helping our colleagues, leaders and partners across the region understand where we're heading, why it matters and how they contribute to our success.

Please note that this is a 12-month parental cover position. You'll join us during a period of parental leave and play an important role in supporting the team's continued success.

The team you’ll join

The Northern Europe Internal Communication team plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of our business plan. Through leadership, change, operational and people communications, we help our store partners, store colleagues, leaders and support office colleagues stay informed, engaged and connected to our business priorities. Together, our work supports more than 470 stores and six support offices across Northern Europe.

As Head of Internal Communication, you'll join the Communications team and report directly to the Director of Communications, Northern Europe. You'll lead a regional team of five colleagues, while working closely with country communication colleagues and stakeholders across the business. You'll also be part of the Northern Europe Communication leadership team, alongside Corporate PR, Public Affairs, Employer & Clinical Branding and Visual Communication.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we continue to strengthen collaboration across the region. A key focus for this role will be creating an even more connected and collaborative Internal Communication function across Northern Europe as well as creating greater alignment across internal and external communications.

How you’ll make impact

As our Head of Internal Communication, you'll lead the delivery of internal communications across Northern Europe, ensuring our communication supports business priorities, inspires and involves our people, and enables successful change across our organisation.

You'll play an important role in strengthening collaboration across markets and functions, helping teams work more closely together and ensuring colleagues throughout the region feel informed, connected and aligned.

Your primary tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and develop the Northern Europe Internal Communication team, ensuring high-quality delivery across all markets and communication activities.
  • Drive the execution of our internal communication strategy, ensuring colleagues and partners across our stores, support offices and leadership teams stay informed, inspired and aligned with business priorities.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, providing guidance on communication approaches that support organisational priorities and change initiatives.
  • Oversee the planning, content and delivery of leadership, change, operational and people communications across Northern Europe.
  • Foster collaboration across country teams and functions, helping create greater alignment and knowledge sharing across the region.
  • Continuously improve our communication channels, tools and ways of working through innovation, feedback and collaboration with both regional and country teams.

Some travel within Northern Europe may be expected in the role.

What you’ll bring

We're seeking an experienced internal communication leader who combines strategic thinking with strong stakeholder management and people leadership skills. You'll be comfortable navigating a complex international organisation and know how to engage colleagues, leaders and teams around shared goals and priorities.

To fulfil this role at Specsavers, you should align with the following requirements:

  • Significant experience leading an internal communication team and delivering communication strategies in complex organisation.
  • Strong people leadership experience and a proven ability to coach, develop and inspire communication professionals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and experience working across multiple markets and stakeholder groups.
  • The ability to influence and advise senior stakeholders on communication approaches, change initiatives and business priorities.
  • A strong understanding of organisational communication, employee engagement and change communication.
  • A degree in Communications or a related field combined with a strong commercial and business understanding.

On a more personal level, we believe being collaborative, curious, proactive and relationship-oriented will help you thrive in this role.
