Mariam finds gratification in seeing new Specsavers recruit’s flourish

Mariam is a seasoned Talent Acquisition Business Partner with six years’ experience behind her. Having notched just over three years working for Specsavers, Mariam knows the ingredients to a successful career.

Mariam joined Specsavers as she had plenty of value to offer. After hearing good things about the organisation and culture, Specsavers was in her sights to make her mark and impact.

“I wanted to join and work for a global business. After having my two rounds of interviews and meeting with some of the team, I was so excited about the prospect of joining the organisation.” says Mariam.

Mariam is responsible for sourcing talent via LinkedIn and Seek for vacant and hard-to-fill positions. She also screens and speaks to candidates, helps hiring managers to understand the market, presents suitable candidates, and sits in on interviews.

With many projects in the pipeline, Mariam also has a large task in reviewing the Employee Referral Program.

“I manage end to end recruitment for my client groups, this includes taking a job brief, actively sourcing and headhunting candidates, shortlisting, interviewing and finally offering to the right candidate.

“Partnering with my client groups means I can be the recruitment SME, understand the market and provide the team with a wider understanding of roles in the market. I support the wider speccies team by finding the right candidate for the right role,” adds Mariam.

Mariam likes many aspects of her role but what she really enjoys is receiving a brief from a hiring manager and finding the best person to do the job and watching people succeed whom she played a part in recruiting at Specsavers.

“Being able to see the candidate I had put forward for a position flourish in their role and sometimes in the business is extremely gratifying,” says Mariam.

With Mariam’s outgoing personality, she enjoys the same pace of her fellow teammates. “I enjoy working with my team; not only are they fun, energetic and hardworking, they’re also respectful and supportive.

“We are a close-knit team who celebrates every achievement and milestone together,” adds Mariam.
