A career with Specsavers in the ROI

Specsavers opened their first store in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) back in 1990. We now employ over 1,700 people who work across our stores there.

Just like the United Kingdom (UK), if you want to work in Ireland you may have to apply for an employment permit or a visa to enter Ireland. To keep you clued up with the facts, here’s some more information on your rights to working in the ROI.

Am I eligible to work in the ROI?

You are eligible to work in the ROI if you:

  • Hold a passport stating that you are an Irish citizen or have the right to live in Ireland
  • Are a citizen of the EEA (the EU, plus Iceland, Norway and Lichtenstein), Switzerland and the UK

What if I don't have the right to work in the ROI?

If you want to work in Ireland and are a non-EEA/non Swiss national, you will need to have a valid Employment Permit or Atypical Permission first. Depending on your nationality, you may also be required to apply for a visa.
