The role
Ready to lead a purpose‑driven programme that ensures eye and hearing care is accessible to everyone?
At Specsavers, everything we do reflects our purpose: to change lives through better sight and hearing. Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work brings this purpose to life in a tangible way. Right now, our strategic focus is our Homelessness Programme, a commitment to tackling health inequality and ensuring that people facing the greatest barriers to care receive the support they need. While homelessness is our priority today, our long‑term ambition is broader, evolving as society changes and new needs emerge. As our CSR Lead, you’ll shape initiatives that respond to real social need, strengthen our brand purpose to be a force for good and help make expert care accessible to everyone.
In this role, you’ll take strategic ownership of our corporate social responsibility strategy in the UK and Ireland, building a scalable approach that works in stores and support offices. You’ll set the long‑term strategic direction of the Homelessness Programme, defining a clear roadmap for inclusive care and ensuring our approach remains cohesive, forward‑looking and grounded in our purpose. You’ll also oversee programme governance, chairing the Homelessness Steering Group, presenting at boards and contributing to senior stakeholder forums. Reporting into the Brand Reputation Director, you’ll influence Board Sponsors to secure ongoing top‑down support.
Collaboration will be essential. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues throughout Marketing, Sustainability, HR, L&D, Clinical Services, Employer Brand, Retail, Supply Chain and Procurement, bringing people together who have shared purpose-driven goals and support strategic decision‑making. Externally, you’ll lead partnerships with various charities and social enterprises, including Vision Care, Focus Ireland, Simon Community, Crisis, EveryYouth and Big Issue Group, negotiating and managing contracts, budgets and strategic direction with these and other organisations as required.
You’ll oversee delivery of the four pillars of our CSR strategy: clinical delivery; communication and engagement; partnerships; and lobbying and policy change. You’ll define KPIs, lead reporting frameworks and drive research activity to ensure performance and impact are measured robustly. Working closely with Sustainability and Marketing, you’ll embed clear evaluation into future planning.
Communication will be a key part of your leadership. You’ll oversee internal and external messaging in all comms channels internally and externally. You’ll chair the Homelessness Marketing Scrum and act as final sign‑off for all programme communications. You’ll also support integration into the Blended Experience Programme and InMoment, influencing how inclusive care is delivered across every customer touchpoint.
You’ll be able to balance multiple priorities and build trusted relationships that help you influence decisions across a wide range of teams and feel comfortable leading change in complex environments. Experience in marketing or brand activation will enable you to bring our CSR programme to life, supported by a calm, solution‑focused approach that keeps momentum moving in the right direction.
