The role

We are looking for an accomplished retail leader ready to make a real difference.  We are seeking a Director of Stores for Audiology (UK & ROI) to join our Retail Leadership team.

Your Purpose

As Director of Stores - Audiology, you will be a key member of the Retail Leadership Team, responsible for leading and inspiring our store network across the UK & ROI, enabling the Retail Support Teams, Partners and businesses to perform at their best. In this pivotal role, you’ll drive performance, elevate customer experience, and champion our people agenda, ensuring our businesses are places where colleagues thrive and customers feel cared for.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead in a high-growth environment, coach, and develop the ‘Heads of Retail’ colleagues, setting clear objectives and fostering a culture of high performance and engagement whilst delivering the retail plan.
  • Ensure delivery of performance metrics at store, regional, and divisional levels, driving trading mindset and capacity management. 
  • Provide thought leadership on retail strategy, contributing to the evolution of our customer, people, and growth ambitions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement initiatives that enhance the customer journey and drive innovation.
  • Champion succession planning and career growth opportunities, nurturing the next generation of retail talent. 
  • Drive the Diversity & Inclusion and wellbeing agenda, role-modelling a healthy, inclusive, and supportive working environment.
  • Champion a Total Care approach, ensuring every customer receives the best possible experience across Audiology, Optics, Domiciliary, and Newmedica.
  • Sponsor divisional pilots and trials, testing and refining new ideas before national rollout.
  • Lead local competitive response strategies to keep our businesses agile and market-leading.
  • Identify and act on opportunities to grow market share, improve profitability, and enhance customer loyalty.
  • Bring retail initiatives and change programmes to life through clear communication and consistent execution.


What You’ll Bring

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in complex, multi-site retail environments, ideally including franchise or joint-venture models and global matrix environments.
  • A strong track record of driving sales growth, cost control, and profit maximisation through customer and people-led strategies.
  • Highly effective change leadership, with the ability to influence cross-functionally and lead large-scale transformation.
  • Deep expertise in retail operations, customer experience, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Strategic influencing and communication skills, with experience in stakeholder management at executive and partner level.
  • Financial acumen, including planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management.
  • A collaborative, values-led approach that reflects the Specsavers culture.

Location: Remote-based, with frequent travel across the UK & ROI.
