The role

This is a 9 months FTC - mat leave cover.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join the Specsavers Group Legal team and take on a highly visible role with a strong focus on corporate governance, compliance and business partnering. You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive legal function, working in a small corporate and company secretarial team where you will have the space to take ownership whilst having the support from the wider Legal team. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership, influence key business decisions and help shape governance and compliance practices across the wider Specsavers group. If you enjoy building relationships, working cross-functionally and making a tangible impact, this is a role where your expertise will be truly valued.

Reporting to the Head of Legal - Corporate & Company Secretarial,, you'll be the go-to advisor on a broad range of corporate governance and compliance matters, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation. You'll lead on key initiatives including group compliance training, legal policies, and broader compliance programmes, helping to ensure the business continues to meet its regulatory obligations and uphold best practice standards. Alongside this, you'll support the Legal Resource Team with advice on joint venture agreements and associated documentation, provide ad hoc corporate legal guidance, and assist with a variety of commercial contract matters as required.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical legal knowledge with a practical, collaborative approach. You'll be a qualified lawyer with at least three years' post-qualification experience, ideally with a background in corporate or commercial law, and experience advising on corporate governance, company secretarial matters and compliance-related issues. You'll be comfortable working autonomously, confident in managing senior stakeholders and able to provide clear, pragmatic advice on complex issues. Equally important is your ability to build credibility quickly, influence effectively and work across multiple functions to drive positive outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of an evolving and business-critical area, helping to shape and lead governance and compliance initiatives across a global organisation. You'll join a genuinely supportive team with a strong culture, where collaboration, trust and professional development are highly valued. If you're looking for a role that offers variety, visibility and the chance to make a real difference while working with great people, we'd love to hear from you.
