The role
Network Strategy Director (Global Supply Chain)
Location: Remote with Global Travel
At Specsavers, we're changing lives through better sight and hearing. As we continue to grow globally, we're looking for a strategic leader to shape the future of our end-to-end supply chain network.
The Opportunity
The purpose of this role is to define and shape the future global supply chain network, creating the long-term vision, design principles and strategic roadmap required to support sustainable growth, outstanding customer service, resilience, efficiency and competitive advantage over 5 and 10 year horizons.
Working across our network (manufacturing, supplier partnerships, inbound logistics, distribution, fulfilment, technology and retail delivery), the role will take an end-to-end systems view to inform our future approach to the movement of products from source to stores and customers globally.
The role will translate business growth ambitions, customer propositions and external trends into credible future scenarios and investment choices. It will balance service, cost, inventory, sustainability and resilience, providing clear strategic direction where data is incomplete and certainty develops over time.
What You'll Do
- Develop and lead the long-term global network strategy and roadmap.
- Drive network design, scenario planning and investment decisions across a complex international operation.
- Balance customer service, cost, sustainability, inventory and resilience to create enterprise-wide value.
- Influence senior stakeholders and advise executive leadership on strategic priorities.
- Lead transformational initiatives including automation, technology and capability development.
- Connect manufacturing, distribution, technology, sustainability and commercial strategies to create one coherent end-to-end network agenda.
- Scan geopolitical, regulatory, technological, sustainability and customer trends, translating emerging opportunities and risks into strategic choices for the business.
- Build and inspire a high-performing team, while driving alignment across operations, finance, technology and commercial functions.
What We're Looking For
- Significant senior leadership experience in supply chain strategy, network design, logistics, manufacturing or a related field
- Proven success delivering large-scale network transformation within global multi-site organisations.
- A systems-thinking mindset, with a track record of designing end-to-end networks and balancing service, cost, inventory, sustainability, resilience and commercial outcomes.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- The ability to make confident strategic decisions in complex and ambiguous environments.
- Experience developing investment business cases and leading transformation programmes through to delivery.
- Experience managing consulting partners, technology providers and strategic supplier ecosystems; experience of vertically integrated or Joint Venture business models would be advantageous.
Why Join Specsavers?
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a global supply chain at one of the world's leading retail healthcare businesses, influencing enterprise strategy and delivering lasting impact.
