Our store
The Hempstead Valley Specsavers store is a modern, well‑equipped optical and audiology hub located in the heart of the Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre. With nine consultation rooms across two floors, the store offers a full suite of eye and hearing services delivered by expert opticians and audiologists who are committed to exceptional customer care and the use of the latest diagnostic technology.
The location is convenient and well‑connected, with free staff parking on site, regular bus services stopping directly at the shopping centre, and Rainham train station just 2.43 miles away—making commuting easy and accessible for both customers and colleagues.
Our team
The Hempstead Valley team is made up of a friendly, dedicated group of optical and audiology professionals who genuinely care about making a difference to every customer who walks through the door. The store brings together a mix of highly experienced optometrists, audiologists, retail supervisors and optical assistants—many of whom have built long-standing careers within Specsavers. They work collaboratively across both floors to create a supportive, customer‑focused environment where development, high clinical standards and teamwork are at the heart of everything they do. Whether delivering eye tests, fitting hearing aids or guiding customers through their eyewear choices, the team prides itself on providing expert advice with a welcoming, personal touch.

- Full time - 35.5 hours a week, to include weekend working

Your on-the-job training will sit alongside structured learning and at the end of the 15-18 months as an apprentice, you’ll be a fully-fledged Optical Assistant.
Who is this Apprenticeship for?
If this is still sounding like a bit of you, we do need you to have a few skills to get started as an Optical Assistant Apprentice.
- You’ll need a grade 9-4 (A*-C) GCSEs in Maths (or equivalent/predicted result)
- Individuals who have lived in the EU for 3 years or more, with the right to work in the UK
