About the store
Specsavers in Bridgwater opened in 1987 and is one of our longest standing stores. The store is situated in a prime location on the High Street, next to Angel Place shopping centre. Shops such as WH Smith, Boots, JD Sports, Greggs, KFC all contribute to the high footfall this area receives.
The store boasts 5 test rooms, a dedicated audiology room and an upstairs contact lens room which also has a phoropter head and OCT. They offer enhanced clinical services such as ACES, (MECS scheme for emergency ophthalmic appointments with local GP referral), enhanced IOP scheme and a very successful Post Cataract Scheme with referrals from Taunton hospital as well as Newmedica in Bristol. A full refit and rebrand is due in May this year which will update and modernise the store.
A team of 35 dedicated colleagues call this store home. Customer service and winning Champions League (having won it last year) are the key priorities for this store, and they pride themselves in ensuring that every one of their customers receives an excellent patient experience. The high levels of service and patient care have led to numerous positive customer reviews and an excellent local reputation.
Store location
Bridgwater is a pretty, historic town with a significantly younger population compared to other towns in Somerset. This is due to the plentiful work opportunities in the area and has recently been ranked as the most affordable place to live in Somerset. Situated on the banks of the river Parrett, Bridgwater was once a busy industrial port. Now up an up and coming town with a cinema and leisure complex, plenty of outdoor spaces and home to the largest illuminated carnival in Europe.
There are excellent transport links; the train station is only a 15 minute walk from the store where you can catch a train to take you to Taunton in around 10 minutes or to Bristol in less than 50 minutes. The M5 runs adjacent to the town which directly links Bridgwater with Exeter to the south (around 41 miles) and Bristol to the north, just over 30 mile’s driving distance.
Requirements of the role
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist with the drive, passion and willingness to maintain the customer-focused culture and the high standards of this successful store. As the new Optometry Partner, you’ll be able to provide a unique blend of customer care and professional excellence. You’ll be able to build a rapport with the existing team, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and possess an ability to build strong relationships within the local community.
