ContractTypeAndDuration

Full Time, Permanent

The role

At Specsavers, we're on a mission to change lives through better sight and hearing, and behind every great customer experience is a commitment to protecting the personal information our customers trust us with. We're looking for an experienced Legal Manager - Data Protection and Privacy to join our Global Data Protection team in a highly visible and influential role. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified lawyer or regulatory professional with specialist privacy expertise to help shape data protection strategy across a trusted international brand, supporting more than 1,500 stores globally while working alongside senior leaders across our business.

As one of our subject matter experts, you'll provide pragmatic, commercially focused advice on GDPR, data protection, privacy and information rights matters across multiple jurisdictions. You'll work closely with stakeholders at all levels, advising on complex privacy issues, supporting regulatory engagement, leading Data Protection Impact Assessments, and helping to embed privacy by design throughout the organisation. You'll also play a key role in handling data subject rights requests, privacy complaints and regulatory matters, while supporting and deputising for the Group Data Protection Officer when required. This is a varied role with genuine global impact, offering the opportunity to influence policy, strengthen compliance frameworks and help drive a culture where good information handling is at the heart of everything we do.

We're looking for someone with at least two years' experience in data protection and privacy, combined with a strong understanding of GDPR and its practical application within a commercial environment. You'll be confident managing complex stakeholder relationships, capable of working independently, and comfortable providing advice to colleagues at all levels of the business. Strong communication skills are essential, along with experience of handling subject access requests, privacy complaints, regulatory notifications and broader data protection compliance activities. Experience gained within an in-house legal team, retail, healthcare or technology environment would be highly beneficial, while professional qualifications such as ISEB Practitioner level certification, CIPP accreditation, or experience across EU and international privacy frameworks will help you stand out.

If you're passionate about data protection, enjoy solving complex challenges and want to play a pivotal role in protecting customer trust within a growing global organisation, we'd love to hear from you. In return, you'll have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects, partner with a wide range of stakeholders, influence business decisions, and help shape the future of privacy and data protection at Specsavers. Join us and be part of a team that makes a real difference to both our customers and colleagues every day.
