Our store   

Specsavers Farlington is a well-established practice located in the Farlington area of Portsmouth, serving the local community with high-quality eye and hearing care. The store offers a welcoming and professional environment, supported by experienced store partners and a dedicated team committed to delivering excellent customer service. With modern testing facilities and access to the latest optical and audiology technology, the practice provides strong opportunities for professional development, ongoing training, and career progression.

The store benefits from excellent transport links, with convenient access to the A27 and A3(M), making it easily accessible from Portsmouth and the surrounding Hampshire area. Local bus services operate nearby, providing straightforward connections for those travelling by public transport. For colleagues who drive, there is convenient parking available close to the store, offering a practical and flexible commute. Your on-the-job training will sit alongside structured learning and at the end of the 15-18 months as an apprentice, you’ll be a fully-fledged Optical Assistant.   

Who is this Apprenticeship for?  

If this is still sounding like a bit of you, we do need you to have a few skills to get started as an Optical Assistant Apprentice.  

• You’ll need a grade 9-4 (A*-C) GCSEs in Maths (or equivalent/predicted result) 
• Individuals who have lived in the EU for 3 years or more, with the right to work in the UK   

What does the role involve? 

• Welcoming customers into store 
• Booking in eye tests 
• Pre-screening patients 
• Providing style advice 
• Measuring frames 
• Taking phone calls
