Optometrist (Fixed Term Contract)

Position: Optometrist
Location: Havant, Hampshire
Salary: Up to £85,000 depending on experience 

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract - 12 months
Experience level: You must be a GOC registered Optometrist and have experience of supervising a minimum of 2 Optometrists 

Specsavers in Havant are looking for an experienced Optometrist to join their team for 12 months, during which time you will supervise two pre-reg Optometrists. This is a large and busy store with a great reputation for the very highest standards in customer care and the store has a fantastic team to support you, so you can focus on what you do best.

Background history
The Ophthalmic Director opened his Specsavers business in July 1991, and over the course of 30 years, he has been involved in running 6 successful Specsavers practices. He is currently the Director of three of our Portsmouth stores; Waterlooville, Havant and Farlington. Working within any one of these stores would expose you to a range of clinically interesting cases, with the added benefit of having the support from a mentor with over 30 years optics & retail experience.

Specsavers Havant are passionate about the clinical development of their team, and as a new Optometrist at the store, we would to support you with extra courses and specialisms that interest you. Whatever your ambitions, from WOPEC to enhanced optical services, they will do everything possible to help you be the best clinician you can be.

What we’re looking for
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, the right person for this position will be confident, possess a strong worth ethic and a willingness to succeed. As a professional, you’ll be an expert at putting people at ease and welcoming customers with a naturally personable approach. You will talk customers through the eye examination process and talk through their options with them. What’s more, you must be passionate about what you do with an aptitude for organisation – which means you keep accurate records and always have up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in your field.  In summary, we’re looking for a skilled resident Optometrist to join us, be part of the team and assist in driving our practice forward.

Havant is 13 miles east from the historic, waterfront City of Portsmouth, and 10 miles west of the cathedral City of Chichester.  The local area is packed with world-class attractions, fantastic things to do and a year-round programme of events. Explore miles of coastline and centuries of history. Sailing, surfing, hiking and mountain biking all possible within a few miles of the town. 

We're situated just a few miles from the A27 providing easy access to the M27 and A3(M) road networks.  We have a train station just a few minutes walk from the store and a regular bus service.
