About the stores
Armthorpe
Opened in 2018, the store is located in the centre of Armthorpe, on a busy retail park which sees a high footfall every day. There are 2 fully equipped and good sized testing rooms and 1 dual purpose room. The store is home to 10 dedicated staff who pride themselves on their exceptional level of service, this includes 1 full time optometrist with a part-time optom coming on board shortly.  They offer enhanced clinical services such as MECS, pre and post op cataract services, IOP refinement. The store is easily accessible by various forms of public transport and has the added benefit of being able to offer free parking to its customers.
Thorne  
Specsavers Thorne is located less than 10 miles from Armthorpe and sits in the centre of the main high street. Nicknamed ‘Little Holland’ because of the canal that runs through the town, Thorne is a popular commuter town due to its excellent connections to 2 motorways; the M18 and the M180 and easy access to Doncaster, Leeds and Sheffield.  There’s a train station within a 15 minute walk from the store and private parking. The store opened in 2021 and had a refit and boost in 2024 so has the look and feel of a brand new store.  There are 4 optical test rooms and an audiology booth in one of the rooms. The store is home to 11 passionate and committed staff including 1 full time optometrist. Both stores operate as spokes for the hub in Barnsley.

Requirements of the role
Alongside being a qualified and GOC registered Optometrist, the right person for this position will be confident, possess a strong work ethic and a willingness to succeed. You’ll be passionate about your job and enjoy a fast-paced environment. You’ll be willing to go the extra mile for customers and someone who encourages their team to do the same. In summary, you’ll be a high calibre Optometry Partner able to put your stamp on these already excellent stores and drive them to the next level.
