I joined Specsavers ten years ago with really an unclear position of what I was walking into. I had come from a corporate London-based organisation and to walk into the office on my first day to such a relaxed way of working an such friendly chatty people was very much a culture shock to the normal rigid London-style office. I joined as a Problem Analyst and quickly found my “happy place” working with the Supply Chain teams and learning about this part of Specsavers.
I’ve been very fortunate to have worked for some amazing managers over my time at Specsavers. Whom have all helped challenge me to progress and push myself. It has not always been smooth and there have been bumps in the road, but I’ve learned so much and had opportunities to progress into new positions and that has made the last decade fly by.
Testing quote element
I am very fortunate enough to see teams across Specsavers daily respond to crises. Whenever a Major Incident is declared or a significant problem needs focus, I can see our teams just jump with energy and desire to resolve the issue and enable our customers to continue to use our service. No matter how tough a day can be, I can always reflect on how great our company is at responding to circumstances and that makes me so proud to be in the position I’m in.
I’m a happy family man with my wife and son. My wife Amy is known as the pink-haired lady, and she has a love of flamingos. My son is Minecraft obsessed and would play it 24/7 if he could. As for me, I’m an NFL and Lego fanatic. Been following the NFL since ’86 and my bucket list wishes is to take my son to the US and go watch my Washington play live at FedEx Field and then travel down to Jacksonville to see his Jags play at TIAA Bank Field. My love of Lego is spreading around the house. With large sets in my home office, and more stuff in the hallways.
Testing quote element
One word I would use to describe the Specsavers’ culture is entertaining.
