Our optical assistants are the face of Specsavers, providing expert advice to our customers on our range of fashionable frames and guiding those who are trying contact lenses for the first time.
An Optical Assistant job is so much more than just your average retail job. At many high-street retailers, ambitious shop-floor staff might expect to work their way up to store management. At Specsavers, you can also aim to own your own Specsavers store one day. Many of our store partners began their Specsavers journey as optical assistants and now lead enthusiastic teams in their own stores across the country.

Every day is different
No two days are ever the same at Specsavers. As an optical assistant, you’ll serve a number of customers with differing needs throughout the day. You’ll need to be able to get stuck in and work with others in a busy team environment, as well as have the know-how to quickly provide solutions and helpful guidance on our products and services. But don’t worry – to support you in meeting a wide range of customer needs, you’ll have continuous support from your directors and colleagues on the shop floor.

In addition to our training and development programmes for optical assistants, we also offer sponsored and externally-accredited Level 3 and Level 4 qualifications in dispensing or management.
