Kristi journey from optics to audiology is a reflection of her determination and passion for helping others. Initially working in the Redditch branch of Specsavers, Kristi was intrigued by a career in audiology which led her to start as a Hearing Care Assistant. "I applied for a hearing care position and luckily got accepted," Kristi shared.

The supportive environment in store

One of the key factors in Kristi's successful transition to audiology has been the supportive environment at Specsavers. Kristi studied with the support of her team to become a qualified hearing aid dispenser during the COVID pandemic, so her experience of learning was a little different. However, she credits her smooth journey to the encouragement and guidance she received from her team. "I was really lucky to have a good team around me and a good supervisor. It was just really smooth" Kristi noted. This supportive atmosphere extends to the directors and the optical team, who are always ready to assist with any issues in store.

Activities for World Hearing Day

Kristi's enthusiasm for audiology extends beyond her daily responsibilities. She actively participates in events like World Hearing Day, where she engages with the community to raise awareness about hearing health. "I've been eager to do some sort of World Hearing Day activity since I started in audiology. It was nice to go out with the optical team, give out goodie bags, and start conversations about hearing tests and ear health," Kristi explained. Her efforts have been met with a mix of reactions, but the majority of people appreciate the importance of regular hearing checks.

Why Specsavers Audiology

Kristi believes that Specsavers is the ideal place for anyone considering a career in audiology. The collaborative and family-like environment makes it a unique workplace. "If you want more of a feel-good team, Specsavers is probably the place to be. You get that support and the opportunities are amazing," Kristi emphasised. She also highlighted the open relationships between the optical and hearing teams, which ensure that everyone works together seamlessly to provide the best care for our customers.

What the future holds for Kristi

Looking ahead, Kristi is excited about the possibilities that lie in her future. She has already started exploring the pathway to business ownership and is considering various options for her career development. "The only option now for my career is to potentially start looking at pathway. It's something I've discussed with the directors in store, and they've given me all my options."
