Step into a key role in our Finance team and help support our Swedish stores during our colleague's parental leave.
At Specsavers, we're dedicated to making eye and hearing care accessible to all. As pioneers and a global leader in innovative technologies, we help people optimise their vision and hearing. We foster your expertise, welcome you into a supportive family, and propel your growth. Grounded in our collaboration, curiosity, courage, and compassion values, we strive to challenge the status quo and invite you to team up with us.
To strengthen our Finance function, we're searching for an Accountant to join our team during our team member's parental leave until around august 2027.
Your role
As an Accountant in our Shared Service Centre, you will play a key part in delivering high‑quality financial services to our stores across all of Sweden. You will independently manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping, Month- and Year-end closings, annual reporting support, VAT and tax processes, reconciliations, fixed assets, and ongoing financial reporting.
You’ll also participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives that help develop our processes, enhance quality, and support the future of our finance function — all with a service-minded and collaborative approach.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Daily bookkeeping, including cash accounting (e.g. credit cards, gift cards, prepayments) and employee expenses
- Month- and Year-end closings (Visma & Visma Bokslut)
- Preparation and support for Annual Reports
- Handling prepayments, accruals, reconciliations, and inventory‑related tasks
- VAT and tax returns
- Fixed assets and fixed asset register management
- Participation in interim and annual audit processes
- Supporting our Accounting Assistant with AP/AR when needed
- Providing support to Controllers and Store Partners
- Engaging in process improvements, system enhancements, and various ad‑hoc tasks
Your new team
You’ll join our Finance & Accounting Services (FAS) team — a group of eight talented finance professionals who work closely together, support each other, and collectively handle the financial responsibility for 82 stores across the region.
The team is known for its strong collaboration, knowledge sharing, and warm working atmosphere. You’ll be surrounded by colleagues who enjoy working together, value precision, and take pride in delivering high‑quality financial service to our store partners.
You’ll be based at our Support Office in Gothenburg, where we work 3 days per week on site to stay connected as a team and support cross‑functional collaboration across the business.
As part of the Finance function, you’ll work closely with store partners, controllers, business development and other teams — giving you a broad view of how our stores operate and how we support them to succeed.
Your qualifications
- We’re looking for someone with solid accounting experience who feels confident working across a broad range of financial tasks and enjoys contributing to a collaborative, service‑minded team.
- To thrive in this role, you bring:
- Strong accounting experience, including independent Month‑ and Year‑end work
- Experience working with multiple entities and/or within retail
- Solid task management skills and the ability to handle many parallel responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
- Flexibility and adaptability — you’ll collaborate with 14 different store partners
- Fluency in Swedish and English, combined with a proactive and solution‑oriented approach
- Experience from retail accounting or accounting firms, annual reports, tax, transfer pricing, internal controls, or process improvements is an advantage, but not a requirement. An ideal start date is mid‑May, depending on your notice period.
