"It's like watching light bulbs come on!"
During Learning at Work Week 2025, Jenny Clifford, Global Learning Experience Design Lead, tells us why she loves learning and how Specsavers supports her professional development.
"I've been with Specsavers for four years, starting as a Manager Development Trainer, then moving to Learning & Development Business Partner in retail, and now I'm part of the Global Learning Experience team.
What I love about my role? Making a difference in colleagues' lives through engaging learning and seeing those "a-ha!" moments. It's like watching light bulbs come on – super rewarding!
It might sound cheesy, but I'm proud to work for Specsavers, and I'd 100% encourage anyone to apply. Specsavers truly lives by its values, providing a culture where people can thrive and be curious.
Specsavers has supported my growth through various learning opportunities, from conferences to webinars and qualifications. I'm especially grateful for the chance to study for my CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic Learning & Development.
This course has been an incredible 18-month journey; diving into topics like diversity and inclusion, organisational design, and people management strategies. There have been some real learning gems, and yes, some late nights and weekends too. But it's worth it!
Looking ahead, I’m excited to apply what I've learned and continue my learning journey. My future goals include leading initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion, enhancing colleagues' capabilities, and making learning more accessible. Ultimately, I’d love to pursue a master's degree. Careerwise, continue progressing my career in L&D".
