Audiology going from strength to strength
Specsavers Audiology services are now available in over 1000 locations making it the biggest high street supplier of digital hearing aids and largest private AQP provider of NHS hearing aids, in the UK & Ireland.
It’s a milestone that brings us one step closer to our ambition of offering hearing services in every store, every day.
This year we’ve cared for more NHS and private patients than ever before providing better hearing, no matter what the budget.
The breadth of choice, alongside the high clinical standards, means Specsavers is now widely acknowledged as offering one of the best aftercare programs on the high street too. But our ambitions don’t stop there. Our head of audiology professional advancement, Gordon Harrison is passionate about providing the highest clinical standards and has committed to achieving IQUIP accreditation. What’s more, we promise to offer customers the best technology at the lowest price, meaning they can get the latest hearing aids and assistive devices from a range of manufacturers including our own brand, at affordable prices; including rechargeable Bluetooth hearing aids from just £1195 (at the time of writing).
But it’s not just the technology that is leading-edge, Gordon Harrison explains, ‘Specsavers audiologists and HADs, are awash with opportunities to develop their clinical skills and keep themselves up to speed with professional and industry developments. One of the big events that we run, is our own professional advancement conference, known as PAC that attracts 2,000 optics and audiology professionals every year, with a combination of lectures, peer reviews and discussion workshops’.
And it’s great news for audiologists looking for careers that offer both clinical and continued professional support. Nimesh Popat, Director of Professional Recruitment at Specsavers explains, ‘As we continue to grow our service offering across the UK and Ireland, we are going to need more clinical resource in our stores and more audiology Partners to run our businesses. There are so many career opportunities within Specsavers, from supervising trainees and hearcare assistants, to being the store’s clinical lead and raising the clinical standards within Specsavers. Our new apprenticeship qualification launched in 2019 has been overwhelmingly popular’.
Nimesh continues, ‘If you want to make a real impact in your community, you could join us in partnership to build and grow your own business. Our unique joint venture partnership structure is our greatest strength with every local store led by its directors. As a Specsavers Partner, you are the master of your own fate – you build your own team, look after your customers, serve your community and reap the rewards through dividends and a future asset’.
